Since she was young, Amanda has sought adventure and traveled the world to immerse herself in diverse cultures. Though she was always drawn to the thrill of the new in her travels with her family, she found an unexpected comfort in the sense of connection and belonging that came from staying in the homes of family and friends around the globe. In fact, it was her Dutch grandmother’s home where she first learned about classic design details, European antiques, vintage textiles, and how seemingly disparate items can come together to tell a person’s story. And together, these experiences of travel, home, and connection were what sparked her passion for design.
But design wasn’t her first career. A skilled equestrian, Amanda moved to the Bay Area for a riding job where she met Rebecca Bradley, a San Francisco interior designer and fellow equestrian. It was Rebecca who saw Amanda’s passion and talent for design and who encouraged her to pursue it as a career. Amanda received her degree in design from Academy of Art University and also studied at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. After her training, she went to work for Rebecca’s firm, RBID, where she was part of an elite team who worked on once-in-a-lifetime projects across the country.
In 2010, she left RBID to start her own firm, Amanda Teal Design, where she and her team work on projects throughout California and in select locations across the country.
